wikipedia: Ski touring is a combination of winter climbing, hiking and skiing in a mountain area, with a significant degree of inclination and large objective hazards. Ski touring is a combination of three elements: approach, climbing and descent, which differs from related areas, such as skitouring or extreme reunions (the skitourowiec moves in an area that does not require climbing, etc.).

We organize skialpinism courses throughout the year.

We run weekend trainings and one and two-week long training sessions in the Alps and in the Tatras. In the summer we operate in the Alps, because there is always a shortage of snow there. Ski touring is a combination of winter tourism, climbing and alpine skiing. Classes are conducted by instructors with international qualifications for training in alpine skiing and ski alpinism.

A brief description of the training program

Techniques for approaching skitour skis, downhill technique in skitour skis, qualified tourism techniques and their use in skialpinism, moving from marines in crutches to descent and vice versa in heavy terrain, climbing a glacier, flyover, setting up winter flights, avalanche training using ABC, rescuing the victim from the slit, rescuing the victim from the slope, first aid, descent on the rope, climbing the rope, belaying from the top or bottom of the device or rifle, orientation in the field, mark marking on the glacier, winter camping (unfolding and survival technique of the night ), an emergency bivouac in the mountains, nutrition, selection of dress code and packing techniques in the mountains (these lectures will take place before departure in the country).

The training is very extensive, but we have experience in conducting such trainings and we will process the entire program if only the weather is good. If the group is less experienced, the peak will remain in the sphere of dreams. We do not take people who are not prepared to live in this environment into high mountains. Then, there are accidents. Please, briefly describe your mountain experience on applications. Minimum requirements: OEAV insurance, skitour equipment, winter sleeping bag, winter mat, winter mountaineering, winter boots with the possibility of connecting automatic crayfish, crayfish vending machines, ice ax, helmet, tourist experience in the Tatras, basic ski techniques. Additional equipment can be rented from us, for example, ski tools, carabiners, etc.

Beginner course

It is divided into three stays after 2 days (Saturday-Sunday). The first turnus includes learning how to move around in the winter in mountain terrain, supporting mountaineering and skiing equipment, skiing skills and off-piste skiing. The second turn is an exercise with climbing equipment and an avalanche set. The third turn is learning the basics of winter climbing (drytooling and ice climbing). The course ends with an entrance and exit from an ambitious skitour round, adjusted to the level of participants and overcoming the insured winter climbing route.

We also organize full Skialpinism training, which lasts 7 days.

It covers the full range of knowledge in the field of winter tourism, mountaineering and ski touring (these techniques inevitably intertwine during mountaineering). Classes are held in the Alps throughout the year (if only the conditions are right). During the course, we enter one of the highest peaks, usually a four-thousandth of a given area as part of the exam in moving in the mountain area.

It is recommended to take an avalanche course before the start of the ski touring course.

Otherwise, you will have to do it for an additional fee on the course in a separate module (turnus). You can read about the avalanche course here: http://www.cumbre.pl/kursy-wspinaczkowe/kurs-lawinowy.html. Climbing equipment, avalanche and ski set can be rented at the Cumbre.pl climbing school for the whole weekend. You should report the willingness to rent the equipment a week in advance so that you will not run out of the rental. Winter climbing takes place in the insured area. Skiing takes place in the area dedicated to winter tourism and ski mountaineering in the Polish and Slovak Tatras. Overnight in Slovak Tatra Mountains hostels. You do not need to leave, exercise on weekends!

Where we train

Training takes place in the Italian Dolomites, French, Austrian and Swiss Alps. To complete the course, you need intermediate-level skiing skills. If someone does not know how to ride on regular skis or skiing, this course is not a suitable offer. Ski training takes place at different dates.

What you need to know

The training requires a basic familiarity with the exhibition and fitness at the level of a good Tatra tourist. This is great fun, an introduction to advanced rounds or mountain trips. If you do not have equipment, you can rent it. It should be remembered, however, that renting is a few zlotys and maybe even a part of the equipment for a longer period.

Equipment needed for training

Pieps, probe, shovel (avalanche ABC), skis, skitour boots, crampons, telescopic poles, ice axes, harness, 4 hms carabiners, two loops 120 cm, belay device necessarily: atc guide, reverso 3 or reverso 4. Other can be after agreeing with the instructor, but these are the best. Ideally, the team will have a similar type of equipment. A welcome ax will be a knob with a hammer. An old honest shoulder in the age of cancers is less applicable, at least to training, and we are braking the other side of the wait. You will need to purchase insurance for the duration of the training. Personally, I recommend OEAV, which not only protects us financially, but is respected in many shelters, authorizing us to discounts.

A very important element is having the right headlamp, which can generate enough strong light, because you slide in the dark. Mountains play different tricks and it is better to have the best light. Cancels, of course, automatic, adapted to the skitouring shells. Lightweight, preferably with the possibility of attaching the rifle to the base of the warhead. The harness is Petzl’s best, the Adjama model or lighter, skitouristic, although I’m a supporter of the first one. We will discuss the advantages and disadvantages of the lecture. Adjama can be worn without problems in shoes, even in skis. Skitour backpack should have dimensions enabling climbing, descent, approach in skiing, comfortable approach and looking up in the helmet.

We do not take too much backpack, because then surely we will take too many things. 40/50 l is enough even for ambitious ski trips. I recommend modular backpacks (eg Dynafit Baltoro 42l). It can be folded into three parts and used on a given day, which is optimal for the amount of equipment and provisions. It is quite delicate, but light. It is very interesting to pack it and you have to get used to the innovative division of chambers. I do not get wet in the winter and I had the opportunity to test it. The only thing that is unstable is the clip that connects both arms (the one at the chest). The victim was exchanged for a new one at Dynafit.

We do not take Camelback to drink unless we have anti-freeze caps and have tested them once. It does not work at high altitude in winter and I only use it in summer! Skitour backpacks often have a bottle holder and this works better, although the best choice is thermos. The choice of carabiners and their colors I leave you. I am asking you only to have carabiners with a large clearance and necessarily turn off the so-called. HMS. I do not recommend Mammut Bionic and other carabiners in a strangely profiled twist, including twist locks.

The cap should have a straight shape, giving the opportunity for a good grip and unscrewing it in the cold. Loops, please buy 120 cm. You can shorten it always, and the 60 cm loop will not lengthen. It is not heavy, and 120 cm will be more universal. Dyneema or polyamide – better than the first ones in ski-alpinism, especially with the dimensions of a 40-liter backpack. Skitour helmet can be chosen any, part also has a fastening for telescopes, goggles, etc. Everyone in the shop will have the necessary approvals. Personally, I use Head or sometimes Climbing Petzl Elios. Skis should have sharp edges, serviced before the season, lubricated, with matching seals. I recommend light skis for skiers doing well on ice.

For the rest, light ski will be horribly run on the edge or not at all. The light ski works on long approaches. We are also less tired. Bindings in stores are more and more sophisticated. There is no point in doing equipment tests here. I have nothing to do with Dynafit, but I would choose it. Vertical, Radical models are very good. For people with a larger mass of Verticale, for lighter Radicale. The latter have a more convenient way to re-adjust the inclination level when approaching. The first ones are more durable.

The poles must be telescopic, foldable, strong, light, expensive, with large saucers. Folding system. Black Diamond is a very large offer. The burner is enough MSR Rocket, popular in the Alps, works well in the wind for a burner for 100 PLN. For this, a mess tin, preferably with an anti-wind screen. Foldable cutlery and aluminum bottle 1l. Its usefulness during the camping will be invaluable. It’s also good to buy a knife. Light and preferably with the option of attaching it to the harness.

Cloth

Light, softshell, gore-tex and primaloft clothing are reliable fabrics. I do not believe in others. The exception is down when camping. A down sleeping bag is a perfect choice for a night in a tent, minimum 800 gr. I recommend Małachowski products. Cheap, durable and good. You will learn about the tents at the course. If someone wants to buy, I recommend Marabut Komodo Plus XL with any number of people (2,3). The difference will be in weight, capacity, thermal comfort and air circulation (gas exchange) Gloves have to be bought warm to frost (primaloft), the second thin to approach (skitourowe), third fleece to sleep or as emergency. This is basic information about the equipment, that’s why I will pass on detailed information about the equipment before the course.

The equipment is constantly changing, it is being improved and modernized. That is why there may be a different, better choice for a year. It is enough to compare the skiers from the picture next to them and you can see what a milestone step the companies producing the equipment have made. Those interested can contact us as early as September, when we will discuss details and complete the group. If there are conditions in the Tatras or Gorce Mountains, you can check your skills before you go. We invite you for training!

Training dates

We operate all year. Remember that the snow is always somewhere, and the Tatras are not the only mountains.
